VisualWorker.com is the website owned by Leon Suen, Shu-Kwan. Suen is a veteran photojournalist based in Hong Kong. He is now practicing fine art photography and freelancing photography for some corporations and international media. Suen is also teaching photography in the Hong Kong Baptist University, the University of Science and Technology. He is one of the founders of an art organization, the Lumenvisum, focusing on the promotion and education of photography.
Leon Suen has served two terms as the chairman of the Hong Kong Press Photographers Association in 1993 and 1994. Suen played a key role in several major exhibitions, such as "In the Eyes of the Press" (1993) and "Hong Kong 24 Hours" (1994 and 1995). The former was a review of the works done by local photojournalists from late Sixties to Nineties; while the latter invited the public to record the changes prior to the handover of Hong Kong to China by photography. Suen also co-curated the "Photojournalism in Hong Kong - the Road of Development" (2000) with Oscar Ho Hing-Kay. Suen was a judge of the 3rd China International Press Photo Contest in 2007.
Books and catalogues released by Leon Suen to date include In the Eyes of the Press (1992), Cage (1993), In Search of Shangri-La (2002) and Megafauna (2009). Suen's personal works are collected by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and some private collectors.
Suen was born in Hong Kong in 1956, married and has two kids. He graduated in the Social Work Department of the Hong Kong Shue Yan College, and has the master degree in journalism of the Renmin University of China.
